BBR - Planning the Approach

First:

  • Identify your task: what do you want the students to produce...

  • writing?

  • performance?

  • visual presentation?

  • research into some aspect of the book they’ve read?

  • A combination of some or all of the above?



Second:

  • Consider what elements your students should be creating ...



Third:

  • Investigate and be clear about the technology you have available and what the students themselves have available, as this will determine what you can do overall, what components the students can do at home, and what elements must be done in the  ...

  • laptops or desktops?

  • microphones or very quiet rooms?

  • digital video camera or smartphone video camera ... or cassette-tape based?

  • digital camera/smartphone camera?

  • internet connection in classroom? staffroom? teacher’s home? students’ homes?

  • thumbdrives or other portable memory devices?



Four:

  • Consider and select an application

Five:

  • Create the product yourself

  • Keep track of the steps vigilantly from signing in through each addition.

  • (Be aware that students probably will find some extras you missed)



Six:

  • Develop your student task sheet and rubric

  • Create student walk-through list



Seven::

  • Develop the teacher’s preparation and walk-through list from students’

  • You’ll undoubtedly be adding on so the next time will go easier!



Eight:

  • Away you go!
